Zephaniah

The Lord your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.

The morning will come again... no more darkness.

today, today

O, golden year. Thou has cometh...
Today, October twenty-sixth, two thousand six is the beginning of my golden year. What does that mean though? 26, on the 26th, of the year 2006. Sounds pretty sweet. But it's sweet, not because my birthday is my age but that God has been with me through it all. He makes me golden. When I think back on the 25 years that I've walked and breathed(I feel the wrinkles on my face already, yikes!), of all the ups and downs, of all the times when the escape from trouble seemed impossible, of all the times when fear strapped me down and kept me suppressed, of all the markers of joys, I was not alone. How can I deny the presence of He who has brought me here. All I can say is, Glory to God. All glory to Him.
To friends... I love you. No matter how little or how well I know you, you still occupy much of my emotion and love. Muchos gracias.
To the brotha from the same motha... You are rock solid. Life, faith, talent... you possess it all. Thanks for living the life, the way it was meant to be lived. Mad props, bro.

Working for free

Student teaching is pretty tough but when you don't have a choice, you have to make the best of it. Finally the grueling 8 weeks of student teaching has begun. It's amazing how much a group of first graders can drain you. They keep forgetting my name... they call me "Mrs. Chola" or "Miss Chono." I need some Redbull or something to make it through the day. I fall asleep at the back table while the teacher is teaching and she makes eye contact with me right when my lids are dropping. How embarrasing. Then I wake up cuz falling asleep on the job is pretty pathetic... but it's for free. 7:30 to 3:00 Mon-Fri. Dang. I should get a prize.
EDIT: October is a busy month. Do you know why?

Have you ever had a cop stop traffic for you?

I have.
I was reminded tonight on my way home from cell seeing a cop stop traffic on the opposite side of the freeway.

I had a flat recently on the freeway but considering that I was driving on the fast lane, my only choice was to pull over to the left shoulder...ooh, so scary it was. I called 911 cuz I didn't have AAA and they said the roadside assistance was on its way. Well, I waited for 45+ minutes but no help until I heard a knocking on my window..."Please drive over to the right shoulder." What the heck. I looked back and no cars. What the heck. I looked back again. A cop had actually stopped traffic (on the 405 mind you) just so that I could drive over to the safer side of the freeway. How odd but how cool. The cooler thing was the guy (traffic police) put my spare on for free. The roadside assistance never came (what the heck) but he said if they did, they would've charged me 50 buckaroos. Crazy. I felt like a star that day~ Thanks, five-0!

So... my other half is back from the motherland and my daily routine consists of nothing but lots of sleep and eating all day while hanging out with friends and then some. Eating. Playing. Sleeping. Life seems good, right? Perhaps not quite cuz my heart tells me it's not.
Planning for Saigon seems to be coming to an end slowly but surely. The first team leaves in about two weeks but my team will still have to wait until late July. I am running out of patience though. I am restless. I just want to leave this place for a while... then summer will all be over. My favorite season is on its way. Am I ready to turn a year older? I am not sure. I wish I was a kid again. God help me.
Edit: Nacho Libre is my hero. OOXxooXxooXxOOXXoOXx
